I Installed 4 Types of Govee Outdoor Lights — Here's How They Look Together at Night

What does a house look like when roofline lights, patio string lights and landscape lighting work together? I installed four different Govee outdoor lighting products around my Florida home. All four have worked as advertised in my experience, but each lights a different part of the property. These are my actual photos, videos and product versions.

First-hand note: All four lights have worked as advertised in my experience. This is not a long-term durability test, and appearance varies with camera exposure, brightness and ambient light.

1. Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights — 150 ft

I use the white 150-foot version with 108 RGBIC LEDs along my house roofline. Instead of hanging across the patio, the individual light modules follow the house and illuminate the walls below. My installation stays up year-round.

During daylight the modules and cables sit tucked beneath the eave. The close-up below shows what the hardware looks like when the lights are off.

2. Govee Outdoor Ground Lights 2 — 50 ft

These are the 15 ground lights I use in the bushes and landscaping below the roofline. They illuminate the plants at ground level while the permanent lights highlight the house above.

3. Govee Clear Bulb Outdoor String Lights — 96 ft

These are the 30 clear RGBWIC bulbs installed beneath my covered porch. You can see the porch lights behind the illuminated stock tank pool in my nighttime photo. They create a hanging-bulb look, unlike the individual roofline light points.

4. Govee Smart Outdoor String Lights 2 — 144 ft

My fourth system is the 144-foot version with 45 RGBIC bulbs. It is another hanging-bulb option for outdoor decorative lighting rather than a roofline or ground-light installation.

Which type would I choose first?

I would start with the location, not the brand or the number of bulbs. For a roofline, look at the permanent lights. For bushes and landscape accents, consider ground lights. For a covered porch or hanging decorative lighting, compare the two string-light styles.

I would not buy all four just because they appear in this article. Each solves a different lighting need.

Have I had problems with them?

So far, all four have worked as advertised. That describes my own experience with these versions, not a guarantee about every installation or years of future performance.

My final thoughts

The finished result is what I like most: roofline lighting, illuminated landscaping and hanging porch/backyard bulbs create different layers of light around the property. The photos and videos show that better than specifications alone. Decide which part of your outdoor space you want to change, then check the exact kit size and current product compatibility before buying.
